Role and Responsibilities
- As a subject-matter expert, collaborate with clients to produce quality technical designs at par with their business processes.
- Drive technical, architectural, and functional discussions, challenging and guiding developers to build elegant e-commerce solutions for world-class retail commerce sites.
- Surveil development efforts and provide technical direction to the team based on clients’ requirements.
- Define system integration architectures and work with partner system integrators.
- Design patterns, approaches, and guidelines, adhering to compliance standards.
- Stay abreast with web technologies and share new ideas and techniques that are relevant to the e-commerce space.
- Create an approachable environment for the team members to ask questions and escalate issues; define milestone commitments and mentor junior team members.
- Support the team in planning data migration and system go-live activities addressing technical issues and challenges.
- Determine software solutions and perform POCs as needed.
- Design and implement reusable components.
- Perform code review.
- Implement load testing standards to troubleshoot performance problems.
- Design and develop frameworks, tools, and accelerators that enhance the ability of technology team members and organization.
- Contribute to new business opportunities by participating in pre-sales - providing solutions, driving technical discussions with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Integrate third-party systems, like CRM, OMS, or ERP data in e-commerce platforms using middleware, native APIs, or API gateways.
- Fix performance, scalability, and other issues in a very time-critical environment.
Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of experience as a Technical Architect.
- 10+ years of experience in developing e-commerce solutions and applications.
- 6+ years of experience in any commercial e-commerce tool like SFCC, Magento, Shopify, BigCommerce, etc.
- Architect certification in any e-commerce tool is desirable.
- Proven hands-on implementation experience in large, complex, multi-domain, and multisite e-commerce projects.
- Good knowledge of UI technologies and omnichannel e-commerce platforms.
- Prior experience in Java, microservices, REST/SOAP API, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, and JSON.
- Strong knowledge of e-commerce functionalities like product and catalog management, pricing, promotions, loyalty, inventory management, order fulfillment, warranties, return management, payments, supply chain, etc.
- Experience in B2C implementation and rollouts. B2B experience would be an advantage.
- Sound knowledge of cloud infrastructure in a popular platform, like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Expertise in application lifecycle methodologies (like agile project and engineering processes, MVP).
- Hands-on knowledge of CI/CD implementation.
- Comfortable in conducting workshops for clients’ teams.
- Hands-on experience in agile development methodology.
- A self-starter and quick learner with an ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Proactive, strong, and improvement-focused problem-solving skills.
