Role and Responsibilities
- Act as a subject matter expert in technical aspects.
- Collaborate with the client to interpret requirements, business processes, and use cases to produce quality technical designs
- Drive technical, architectural, and functional discussions - challenge and guide the developers to build elegant e-commerce solutions for world-class retail commerce websites.
- Ensure client requirements - oversee development efforts, progress, and provide technical direction to the team.
- Define system integration architecture and work with partner system integrators.
- Define design patterns, approaches, guidelines, standards, and adhere to compliance requirements.
- Stay abreast of web technologies; share new ideas and techniques relevant to e-commerce.
- Create an approachable environment for the team members to ask questions and escalate issues – define commitments for milestones and guide/mentor junior team members.
- Support the team in planning data migration and system go-live activities. Address any technical issues and challenges.
- Determine feasibility of various software solutions and perform proof of concepts (POCs) as needed.
- Design and implement reusable components.
- Perform code reviews.
- Implement load testing standards to troubleshoot performance issues.
- Contribute to the design and development of frameworks, tools, accelerators that enhance the ability of technology team members and organization.
- Participate in pre-sales activities, provide solutions, drive technical discussions with the client and internal stakeholders.
- Fix performance, scalability, and other issues in a very time-critical environment.
Skills and Experience
- 8+ years of experience in developing e-commerce applications.
- 6+ years of experience in using commercial e-commerce tools like SFCC, Magento, WCS, Shopify, BigCommerce, etc.
- 5+ years of experience in a client-facing role.
- 5+ years of experience managing technical architecture.
- Proven hands-on implementation experience in large, complex, multi-domain, multisite e-commerce projects.
- Good knowledge of UI technologies and omnichannel e-commerce.
- Expertise in integrating various third-party systems like CRM, OMS, and ERP data in an e-commerce platform using middleware or native APIs and API gateways.
- Prior experience in Java, Microservices, REST/SOAP API, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, JSON.
- Good knowledge of e-commerce functions, like Product & Catalog Management, Pricing, Promotions, Loyalty, Inventory Management, Order Fulfilment, Warranties, Return management, Payments, Supply Chain, etc.
- Experience in B2C implementation and rollouts. B2B experience would be an advantage.
- Sound knowledge of cloud infrastructure in any of popular platforms, like AWS, Azure, GCP.
