Description
GSPANN is hiring a Big Data Project Manager. The candidate will work with a team of full-time and consultant developers and QA engineers to develop a set of systems to support the program, including data transfer services, backend software infrastructure, a reporting and analytics engine, and various parsers. The candidate will own the software system development process from ideation through long-term sustaining ownership, release and will be responsible for keeping the applications current with periodic releases.

Description
Role and Responsibilities
- Drive development across multiple teams to create and maintain a holistic set of systems.
- Work and lead in an agile perspective for all software development and commit to a fast release schedule.
- Work with the Project Owner/Sponsor to confirm the project scope and goals, objectives and business justification, secure project resources (people and budget), and re-iterate the project mandate.
- Prepare a detailed project work plan with associated resource requirement profile identification.
- Create, maintain, and update key project documentation.
- Lead, monitor, and maintain project progress to ensure delivery of goals within the agreed constraints of time, cost, and quality.
- Control and report progress to the Project Steering Group/Project Sponsor and manage issues when required. Initiate corrective action where necessary to keep the project on track.
- Play a lead role in defining an effective communication strategy for the project, including communicating and consulting with key stakeholders.
- Identify interdependencies between various stakeholder groups to keep them aligned.
- Proactively identify, mitigate, and communicate risks to the key stakeholders.
- Lead and work effectively in globally distributed small to medium-sized teams.
- Conduct regular code reviews to keep codebase in compliance with rigorous code review standards.
- Conduct design reviews and assure that all modules fit the proposed architecture.
- Efficiently implement test-driven-development methodologies.
- Confidently conduct Research and Development (R&D) and proofs of concepts (PoCs).
Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of experience in leading software development teams.
- Expertise in Data Analytics project delivery/data platform projects.
- Must have technical project management experience and the ability to manage projects.
- Hands-on with Big Data solutions, including experience in Spark, Python/Scala, SQL, Hbase, Kafka, and other tools in the Hadoop ecosystem.
- Confident with any one of the cloud services, i.e., GCP, AWS, or Azure.
- Good knowledge of Git and Jira is required.
