Role and Responsibilities
- Build and extend backend applications in a cloud (AWS) environment.
- Ensure that customer-facing applications are designed to be highly available, observable, and durable via software engineering best practices.
- Work with Product and Project Owners to understand end-user requirements, formulate user stories, and translate those into pragmatic and effective technical solutions.
- Work closely with onsite and remote frontend, backend, and operations engineers to ensure deliverables are well-documented, secure, and resilient.
- Help the engineering management team prioritize technical roadmap and identify gaps in process and planning.
- Establish and document development best practices and ensure that these practices are adhered to.
- Build and maintain AWS based integration using ECS, S3, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production system issues.
- Author well-designed, testable, efficient code.
Skills and Experience
- 8 years of real-world experience developing, deploying, scaling, and maintaining AWS cloud-based Microservices and APIs.
- Mandatory development experience in Java/J2EE, Spring framework, Spring Boot, and Kafka.
- Prior experience in leading a team is a must.
- Should be thorough in Java/J2EE development environments. Must have real-world experience in the development lifecycles of complex e-commerce applications.
- Prior experience in unit testing frameworks is desirable.
- Strong software development fundamentals, including automated testing, source control (GitLab), continuous integration, and continuous delivery and/or deployment, would be an advantage.
- Experience integrating web frontends with complex multi-tier applications is desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong willingness to learn and teach are a must.
- A passion for solving problems and a desire to understand how things work will be appreciated.
