Role and Responsibilities
- Build and extend backend applications in a cloud environment, like Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Apply software engineering best practices to ensure the customer-facing app design is highly available, observable, and durable via software engineering best practices.
- Work with Product and Project Owners to understand end-user requirements, formulate user stories, and then translate those into pragmatic and effective technical solutions.
- Work closely with onsite and remote frontend, backend, and operations engineers to ensure deliverables are well-documented, secure, and resilient.
- Help the engineering management prioritize technical roadmap and identify gaps in process and planning.
- Build and maintain AWS-based integration using ECS, S3, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB.
- Establish and document development best practices and ensure that the team adheres to these practices.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 10 years of real-world experience in developing, deploying, scaling, and maintaining AWS cloud-based Microservices and APIs.
- Development expertise in Java/j2ee, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Kafka.
- Prior experience in leading a team is mandatory.
- Should be comfortable and productive in Java/J2EE development environments.
- Must have real-world experience in the development life cycles of complex E-commerce applications.
- Hands-on knowledge of unit testing frameworks is desirable.
- Strong software development fundamentals including automated testing, source control (Gitlab), and continuous integration in addition to continuous delivery and/or deployment. \
- Experience integrating web frontends with complex multi-tier applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong willingness to learn and teach. A passion for solving problems and a desire to understand how things work.
- Able to troubleshoot and resolve production system issues, and author well-designed, testable, efficient code.
