Role and Responsibilities
- Build and extend backend applications in a cloud (AWS) environment.
- Ensure that customer-facing applications are designed to be highly available, observable, and durable via software engineering best practices.
- Work with Product and Project Owners to understand end-user requirements, formulate user stories, and translate those into pragmatic and effective technical solutions.
- Work closely with onsite and remote frontend, backend, and operations engineers to ensure deliverables are well-documented, secure, and resilient.
- Help engineering management prioritize technical roadmap and identify gaps in process and planning.
- Establish and document development best practices and ensure that the team adheres to these practices.
- Build and maintain AWS-based integration using ECS, S3, and DynamoDB.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 8 years of experience in developing, deploying, scaling, and maintaining AWS cloud-based Microservices and APIs.
- Mandatory development experience in Java/j2ee, Spring Boot, and Kafka or JMS concepts.
- Must have an experience in leading a team.
- Any experience in the supply chain industry, especially active warehouse management, would be a huge plus.
- Experience in DevOps in AWS (like CloudFormation, Jenkins) is desirable.
- Should be productive in Java/J2EE development environments.
- Prior experience in monitoring tools like Splunk or SignalFX, and unit testing frameworks is a plus.
- Must have strong software development fundamentals, including automated testing, source control (GitLab), CICD and/or deployment.
- Hands-on with integrating web frontends with complex multi-tier applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong willingness to learn and teach.
- A passion for solving problems and a desire to understand how things work.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve production system issues efficiently.
- Comfortable authoring well-designed, testable, efficient code.
