Role and Responsibilities
- Act as a subject-matter expert in technical aspects.
- Collaborate with the client to interpret requirements, business processes, and use cases to produce quality technical designs.
- Drive technical, architectural, and functional discussions and challenges to guide the developers in building elegant e-commerce solutions for world-class retail commerce sites.
- Oversee development efforts and provide technical direction to the team based on client requirements.
- Define system integration architectures and work with partner system integrators.
- Define design patterns, approaches, guidelines, standards and adhere to compliance requirements.
- Stay abreast of web technologies and share new ideas and techniques that are relevant to the e-commerce space.
- Create an approachable environment for team members to ask questions and escalate issues, defines commitments for milestones, owns a team, and guides junior team members.
- Support team in planning data migration and system go-live activities and addressing technical issues and challenges.
- Determine the feasibility of various software solutions and perform proof of concepts as needed.
- Design and implement reusable components.
- Mentor junior team members.
- Perform code review.
- Implement load testing standards to troubleshoot performance problems.
- Contribute to the organization in the design and development of frameworks, tools, and accelerators that enhance the ability of team members and the organization.
- Contribute to new business opportunities by participating in pre-sales by providing solutions and driving technical discussions with client and internal stakeholders.
- Fix performance, scalability, and other issues in a very time-critical environment.
- Integrate various third-party systems like CRM, OMS and ERP data with e-commerce platform using middleware or native APIs and API gateways.
- Conduct regular workshops with the client team.
Skills and Experience
- 8+ years of experience in developing e-commerce and applications.
- 6+ years of experience in any commercial e-commerce tools like SFCC, Magento, WCS, Shopify, BigCommerce, etc.
- 5+ years of experience in a client-facing role.
- 5+ years of experience in developing a technical architecture.
- Proven hands-on implementation experience in large, complex, multi domain, multisite e-commerce projects.
- Good knowledge of UI technologies and omnichannel e-commerce.
- Expertise in Java, Microservices, REST/SOAP API, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, JSON.
- Strong e-commerce functionalities like Product and Catalog Management, Pricing, Promotions, Loyalty, Inventory Management, Order Fulfilment, Warranties, Return management, Payments, Supply Chain, etc.
- Experience in B2C implementation and rollouts. Any B2B experience would be an advantage.
- Sound knowledge of cloud infrastructure in any of popular platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP.
- Good understanding of application lifecycle methodologies (like agile project and engineering processes, MVP.)
- Architect certification in any e-commerce tool is highly desirable.
- Mandatory experience in CI/CD implementation.
- Experience in logging technical tickets/on-call complaints with e-commerce vendors.
- Hands-on experience in agile development methodology is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work in a fast-evolving and fast-paced environment.
- Should be a self-starter with the ability to pick up things quickly and high problem-solving skills.
- Must be proactive and have a strong focus on improvement.
