Role and Responsibilities
- Work closely with the help desk, operations, standard services, vendor, and procurement to ensure appropriate software licenses are available before deployment.
- Conduct Software Asset Management license maintenance activities.
- Create new software licenses following vendor specifications, process new software purchases, and apply to the appropriate software license as approved.
- Monitor and identify compliance risks of software licenses.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings to address efficiency, renewal, and commercial issues.
- Coordinate software and license reclamation activities and collect information in response to software verification requests.
- Maintain the Definitive Software Library (DSL), including downloading software media and moving to the DSL, distributing software media to the appropriate resources, assessing and actioning usage-based reports.
- Receive and manage software license keys.
- Maintain knowledge of key vendor licensing models, working with vendor management to understand specific commercial relationships.
- Assist in software audit activities, working with the Governance and Assurance team, the Configuration Management team, and vendor management.
- Take charge of the activities related to the maintenance of the license repository, such as working with the packaging teams to ensure deployment methods and media are correctly operating in line with license restrictions, ensuring software models are linked to the appropriate contracts, and ensuring license keys are linked to the suitable software models.
- Reconcile software licensing and software maintenance terms and conditions between procured rights and quantities with compliant deployment of software assets.
Skills and Experience
- Experience in configuration management, asset life-cycle management, process improvement and compliance
- Good knowledge of the fundamental concepts and procedures used in an asset management environment.
- Thorough with software licensing models.
- Experience with Software Asset Management tools, such as ServiceNow, Microsoft SCCM, etc.
